became one of the few batsman in the world and the 3rd Indian
after Vijay Hazare and Sunil Gavaskar to have scored a century
in each inning of a Test).

1998 : Ranked 9th according to the Ceat International Rating.
1996-97 : Ranked 13th according to Ceat rating - tied with Saeed Anwar
and Waqar Younis of Pakistan.
Cooper's & Lybrand ranked him 4th in the world in Tests
ahead of other Indians like Sachin Tendulkar and
Saurav Ganguly.
Elected as 'Pantaloon Indian Cricketer of the Year' by
former cricketers.
